I did this about 30 years ago and it still seems to be OK. I then put it about 45degrees to the bed and again adjusted for front to back linearity until it stopped to move. Put it on the bed at various points, squarely across, and adjusted the height adjustment to stop it moving. Not very hi tech but I levelled my lathe with a bit of 2" silver steel. Have you searched for Lathe Levelling on this forum? My question is, how important is it to use an engineer's level when setting up the lathe? Would not a normal level be sufficient? In thinking about picking up my SABEL lathe next weekend, I have been reading about installing it and the issue of levelling is often mentioned with the use of an (expensive) engineer's level.
